Introduction

Solution step 1

Turn the locks on the cell doors to the correct symbols, as written in the story, to free the knights.

Solution step 2

Guide the knights through the maze and turn them at each dead end to release the lock of the side compartments. (The correct ones are bottom left and bottom right.)

Solution step 3

Once the side doors are open, the puzzle pieces are released. Assemble the puzzle in the frame on the back.

Solution step 4

The animals shown on the puzzle are the animals you need to find on the bottom of the box. Turn the lock to these animals to release the cover.

Opening the cover releases the three keys.

Solution step 5

The middle symbols on the assembled puzzle show which key goes into which lock (from left to right: crown, sword, shield).

Solution step 6

Turning the three keys opens the top cover and reveals the dragon and the crossbows.

Solution step 7

Turn each crossbow to the image that matches the spots marked with an "X" on the dragon's body. This opens the inner cover and gives you access to the final prize.

Reset the puzzle box to its original state

1. Close the inner cover
Put the final prize back into the inner compartment and close the inner cover while the crossbows are still set to the correct images. Then turn each crossbow randomly to a different image – this locks the cover again.

2. Close the top cover
Fold the top cover back over the dragon and the crossbows. Turn the three keys back until the cover is locked again.

3. Remove the keys
Pull the three keys (crown, sword, shield) out of the locks.

4. Put the keys back
Place the three keys back under the cover on the bottom of the box and close it while the lock is still set to the correct animals. Then turn the animal lock randomly.

5. Puzzle back into the side compartments
Take the puzzle out of the frame on the back and put the puzzle pieces back into the side compartments.

6. Lock the side compartments and return the knights
Close both side doors. Turn the knights back at the dead ends at the bottom left and bottom right so the side compartments are locked, then guide them back through the maze into their cells.

7. Lock the cell doors
Close the cell doors and turn the locks randomly so the correct symbols are no longer set.

Now the puzzle box can be solved again by other players.
