GIFT GUIDE 2026
Why the best gift for the man who has everything isn't a thing
And what to give instead when every idea on your list is already crossed out. It works for dads, brothers, partners and everyone else who says "I don't need anything".
He says he doesn't need anything? Red flag.
Last year's gift is still in its box, somewhere in a drawer? Red flag.
He says thank you, smiles, and puts it on the shelf before dessert? Red flag.
If you have searched for "gifts for the man who has everything" more than once this year, you're not alone. Almost everyone has one person like this on their list. You find great gifts for everybody else. And then there's him.
The problem isn't your taste
He already owns the good knife, the good watch and the good headphones. When he wants something, he buys it. So you do what everyone does.
Something practical? He already has one. Something funny? It's funny for a day. A gift card? It feels a bit like giving up.
None of those are bad gifts. They just have one thing in common: he understands them the second the paper comes off. He opens it, looks at it, knows exactly what it is and what it does, and says thank you. Thirty seconds later there's nothing left to discover.
What people actually remember
Think about the best gift you ever got. Chances are, it wasn't an object. It was a story. The game night that went on until midnight. The trip. The evening you laughed so hard you couldn't finish the sentence.
For someone who has everything, a new thing is never really the gift. He can buy things himself. What he can't buy for himself is a moment he has to earn.
So the question changes. Not "what doesn't he have yet?" but "what can't he figure out in thirty seconds?"
A gift that lasts an evening needs three things
- It looks simple enough that he underestimates it. That's when curiosity kicks in.
- It takes real time. Not five minutes, but an evening, ideally with someone else at the table.
- It ends with a moment he'll remember. The click when something finally opens.
An escape room you can hold in your hands
That's exactly what we build at INSCAPE. Every INSCAPE puzzle box is an escape room in a wooden box roughly 11 to 16 cm (4 to 6 inches) in size, depending on the box. There are locks, sliders, symbols and hidden mechanisms, and a story that leads from one riddle to the next. Every solved riddle opens the next compartment. There's no way to skip ahead.
Every box is assembled by hand and arrives fully assembled, in its own magnetic gift box. Nothing to build. The wrapping comes off and the first riddle is already waiting.
How long does it really take? We let the players answer
Every INSCAPE box has a public leaderboard. When players finish, they can add their time and leave a comment. Over 3,000 solvers have done that so far, which gives us honest numbers instead of marketing promises.
“This is an amazing puzzle! Me and my oldest son took on this challenge. Together we solve it and had LOTS of fun!! 10/10 would do again”

“My first ever puzzle box and I loved it!!”

“I got this last night and at first I could not figure out how to do it. But after a good night's sleep I was able to make progress and worked on it until dinner.”

Why one box is rarely enough
One box is one evening. When the last compartment opens, it's solved. It's nice when the next one is already waiting. That's why many of our customers give a whole set.
- More evenings. The Bestseller Bundle holds around 7 to 11 hours of puzzling, the Fan Package with 8 boxes around 12 to 19 hours. That's many evenings instead of one.
- It keeps getting trickier. The boxes have different difficulty levels. He can start with an easier one and work his way up to Caesar's Riches, one of our hardest boxes.
- One set, several gifts. Every box comes in its own magnetic gift box, so you can split a set: one box for Dad, one for your brother, one for your brother-in-law. Afterwards the leaderboard shows who was faster.
- Cheaper than buying them one by one. In a set you pay less than for the same boxes bought individually.
The questions people ask before they buy
"He's not really a puzzle person."
Does he fix things himself instead of calling someone? Does he get stubborn when something doesn't work? Then he is a puzzle person. He just hasn't been handed the right puzzle yet.
What if it's too hard?
Nobody stays stuck forever. Every box comes with online hints that give a small nudge without spoiling the rest, so he decides for himself how much help he wants.
Does it need to be assembled?
No. Every box arrives fully assembled and is ready to play straight away.
Who is it suitable for?
For ages 14 and up. It can be solved alone or together, which is why many players do it with a partner, a friend or their grown-up kids.
What if a part ever breaks?
Then we send a replacement part free of charge, anywhere in the world.
Can I give the boxes in a set to different people?
Yes. Every box comes in its own magnetic gift box, so you can split a set between several people.
Which set should it be?
Three sets, from big to small. Every box arrives fully assembled in its own magnetic gift box.
