Dragon's Gate

This is the tale of Waldric and Naiomi, two knights in the distant land of Vesporia. They had become prisoners of the evil dragon, Smorg, and trapped within a dungeon. While sitting in their separate cells, the friendly animals of the kingdom brought them the keys to their freedom. A kindly owl dropped a square key through the window for Waldric. Naiomi had a circular key brought to her by a friendly mouse. Through the assistance of these friends, the two knights were able to escape.

With freedom in hand, each knight travelled through the maze of the Lost Forest to find where they had buried their stashes of magical artifacts. They each remembered they had buried the artifacts in a sacred clearing surrounded by stones, but there were so many and only one was the correct spot.

Finding the correct clearing for each, the knights did the mystic ritual of turning in a circle and their artifacts appeared. Within each hole were some of the pieces to the Scroll of Wisdom. It would take all of the pieces to recreate the document. Each knight knew that, going forward, they would need to work together and combine their strengths in order to defeat Smorg.

Reconstructing the Scroll of Wisdom, Waldric and Naiomi marveled at the images of the three Keys of Power and the animal spirits that they would need to seek out in order to obtain them. These keys would unlock the gate to the dragon's domain. They quickly asked the guardian animals for access to the keys, which the creatures granted.

The knights inserted the keys, one by one, into the correct padlocks on the cave door and twisted them a quarter of the way to the right. As each lock opened, the chain that held the gate fell to the ground. With a mighty roar and the heat of a furnace, Smorg the dragon burst forth to protect its lair.

Waldric and Naiomi quickly loaded their crossbows to defend themselves. Aiming at the three most sensitive areas of the dragon, the knights let their arrows fly. The dragon shrieked in pain and fell from the clouds to land with a thud on the earth. At last, Smorg was defeated and the lands of Vesporia could once again live in peace.
